KNAPP RANCH

In 2012, Todd was commissioned by Bud & Betsy Knapp, the original publishers of Architectural Digest, to photograph and co-produce a coffee table book that tells the story of their discovery, appreciation and thoughtful settlement into a pristine mountain valley near Vail.

During the project’s 6-year evolution, Todd photographed the land, wildlife, climate, seasons, and geology of the valley. Other topics included the architecture, interior design, sustainable forestry and innovative high-altitude organic farming practices. Todd collaborated closely with the writer and book designer on story development, oversaw all visual asset and pre-press color management, proofing and final press-checks.

The final product, Living Beneath the Colorado Peaks, was released in 2018. In April of 2019, the book received the prestigious Western Heritage Award for Outstanding Photography Book by the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. The Museum's Western Heritage Awards is a pinnacle commemoration of the American West, honoring the legacy of men and women for their works in literature, music, film, and television.
